The History and Story behind the Gatorade Cup:

In 1965 a US college football team noticed their players where consistently tired in their practices during the hot summer months. The thought was that they became dehydrated due to the hot and dry climate.

Their science department took on the challenge of creating a drink for the football team that would help them to hydrate and thus perform better under these conditions. The next year this team won the Orange Bowl and the opposing coach claimed it was because his team didn’t have the aid of that drink!

Once other teams saw the results and got word of this drink they asked if they could try it out and the rest is history…

The school was the University of Florida, and the football team was the Florida Gators! Gatorade was born!

It is in this tradition that we host this tournament every year, we split our team evenly in half, and play against each other 3 on 3 at the Pond, the winner gets Gataorade and the other team water. We will play a best 2 out of three series and there are no ties! We have a ceremony at the end of the season in honor of our 2010 Gatorade Cup Champions!

In all the events that we do each year, this one is the funest for me, its quite an honor to be part of the Gatorade Cup, and a bigger honor to be a Gatorade Cup Champion!
